Last week we began our series in 1 Peter by focusing on the believer’s remarkable hope despite the times of oppression, isolation, and rejection they were living in. We were encouraged by Peter’s reminder to believers of any age that we’ve been picked out, picked up, and paid for!

This week, we will continue our series by focusing on the remarkable salvation that comes from the faith that believes in Jesus, despite having not yet seen Him.  Come also prepared to investigate the work of the prophets and inquire into the validity of the Hebrew text as we decipher the apologetic importance of the Dead Sea scrolls.

Looking forward to another week of inspirational truths from scripture that will inspire us to live with remarkable conduct, have remarkable conversations, and give remarkable clarifications to anyone who asks about the Hope inside us.

We are excited to begin our new series in 1 Peter this week!  

What kind of book would you expect Jesus’ "bulldog of a disciple" to write? Wouldn’t you expect it to be full of bold charges, passionate pleas, even confrontational language?  

Yet, the first book of Peter embodies a far different tone. With surprising pastoral warmth and theological sweep, we read the guiding words of a man determined to bring a living hope to his audience, despite the evil government oppression they were facing.

I trust this will be an impactful series full of inspiring challenges, apologetic points, and guiding principles for all of life’s journey.

 

REMARKABLE | Intro

Regardless of our personal views, we all find ourselves living in a divided society that is being bombarded with fear, intimidation, and ever-present threats to our well-being.

The reality is, many of us might feel worried, manipulated, frustrated, and at a loss of what the future may hold. How then shall we live?  

Scripture’s answer might surprise you. It calls us to live REMARKABLE lives. You’re probably thinking, “Come on! You can’t do that in the midst of health concerns, rumors of wars, and societies raging with division.”  

The truth is, what God calls us to will not be easy or natural for most of us, and it certainly won’t be what we see in our culture. 

But our hope is that in the midst of a society telling us we can’t be REMARKABLE, our entire church family would respond to that challenge with one simple phrase, “Say I won’t!”

VOYAGERS | Acts | Mission Faith (pt 9)

Paul was told by the Lord that he would preach the gospel to the Gentiles in Rome. He leaped out in faith as a voyager for God, determined to fulfill his mission, and this week we will watch him endeavor to do just that. He is ready, we know he’s willing, but will he be able? Join us this week as we conclude the Voyager Series with MISSION FAITH.

Last week  we left Paul out on the open sea, battered by a powerful storm, but clinging to a promise from God that he would finish his voyage to Rome.

 

This week, we will rejoin Paul for the shipwreck on Malta, and watch his faith being put to the test through even more difficult and desperate circumstances. Through his trials, we will consider a new aspect of faith - DESPERATE FAITH, for times in our lives when we don't know where to turn.

We trust this will be an encouragement to all.

There is a type of faith that can trust and obey despite discouraging times, difficult circumstances, and peril on the horizon.  We will call it STORM FAITH.

This week, we will watch STORM FAITH in action in the lives of both Noah and Paul.  We will see the trust and obedience required to survive the mighty tempests that can come a voyager's way and find inspiration from their character as the thunder rolled.

For those of us out there facing discouragement, difficulty, and even the possibility of an impending storm, we trust this week's sermon in our Voyager Series (Acts 27) will encourage you.  Hear the words of Paul and “take heart!”

VOYAGERS | Acts | Valiant Faith (pt 6)

"Maybe you're there for such a time as this."

The word valiant is seldom used in our day and age. It describes one who "possesses or shows courage or determination.” This Sunday, we will be reminded of one of the most valiant acts in all of scripture from the book of Esther as she stands before the king.  We will compare her boldness to that of Paul (Acts 26) as he stands before Agrippa.  

I will also share the 7 Key Strategies for Biblical Confrontation before we partake of Communion this Sunday. Needless to say, this should be an exciting week in our Voyagers series!

What is God asking you to offer Him?

Let’s be honest, there's no one who doesn’t think they could use some growth in the area of patience.  Being tested in the area of patience is no fun, yet it is one of the most sought-after characteristics God longs to see in His children.  

Why? Patience demands sacrifice, and sacrifice demands trust. The ability to walk in faith as we wait on God demonstrates a God-fearing respect, surrender, and trust that He is good and He will provide. When we patiently wait, we honor and praise Him as we choose to rest in His timing, His plan, and His promises that He will provide. 

This week, we will examine the faith of Abraham and Isaac being tested before being entrusted. We will then compare that to the Apostle Paul’s faith as he once again goes to trial, this time before Festus.   

I trust this message will be a real encouragement to all those feeling confused, frustrated, and even upset with God's current plan in their lives, as they are being asked to surrender theirs.

7 Ways to Crush the Fear of Accusation

Have you ever been tempted to do something wrong in private?  How about being deceitful in order to finish a task under pressure, or maybe pondered ways to deceptively cheat the system? What about the times you’ve justified deceitfulness because of the way you have been mistreated?

This week, we will talk about walking in ‘blameless faith’, with a clear conscience.  We will watch as Paul is mocked, accused, slandered, and even cast away into isolation, despite being blameless before God.  

Will God defend him? Will God step in and stop the accusations?  Join us this week (Acts 24) as we watch a blameless faith go under trial before Felix.  I truly believe this Sunday will demonstrate the reward of blamelessness, despite the suffering that can come.  Don’t believe me?  Ask Joseph!

Our first week we learned to walk with Maybe Faith -- the faith that says, "let's commit . . . maybe the Lord will deliver despite the odds."  Last episode we investigated Furnace Faith -- the faith that says, "even if this hurts, I'm stepping into this adversity in faith."

Today, we will be talking about Tenacious Faith, the faith that "stays on the wall."  We will follow Paul (Acts 23) as he faces chains, slaps, threats and intimidation. Hope you're enjoying our series in Acts . . .Voyagers!
