ONE ANOTHER: Speaking Thanksgiving (pt 11)
Sunday Nov 25, 2018
Sunday Nov 25, 2018
In Ephesians 5:19-20 we are taught to speak to one another with thanksgiving. We can do this psalms, hymn and spiritual songs. Worship in song brings harmony, unity and gratitude with other believers. Continuing the ideal of gratitude, Luke 17:11-18 reminds us to beware of ingratitude which consumes 90% of people. Instead, be like the leper who went back to Jesus in thanks (the 10% club). We can do this by hailing the Giver (Psalm 9:1), foregoing entitlement (1 Thessalonians 5:18), taking time to be thankful, smelling the roses (Colossians 3:17), valuing the process (Philippians 4:6) and doing so joyfully (Psalm 28:7)

ONE ANOTHER: Do Not Grumble (pt 10)
Sunday Nov 18, 2018
Sunday Nov 18, 2018
James 5:9 instructs us 'not to grumble against one another... so that you may not be judged'. Pastor Chris points out the dangers of grumbling which damages our testimony, discourages the hearer, airs discontentment, stirs up division and angers the Lord. We see this with the Israelites in Numbers 14. Instead we can learn from the account in Numbers and not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present our requests to God (Philippians 4:6). We need to consider that God hears us, remain faithful (as did Joshua and Caleb) and rest in His promises, trusting Him. 'The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him, It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord'. Lamentations 3:25-26

ONE ANOTHER: Do Not Hate (pt 9)
Sunday Nov 11, 2018
Sunday Nov 11, 2018
It's unbelievably easy to struggle with being nice to one another. Today, Pastor Chris spoke to one of the roots of this issue: hatred - and harboring hatred may look differently than you expect it to.
Sometimes we even hate ourselves. Do you over- or under-eat? Neglect your body? Feel defeated? Acquiesce easily to things that make you uncomfortable? Are you hostile if you feel threatened?
Join us to hear 5 steps to escape hatred, as given by Jesus in the sermon on the mount (Matthew 5:21-26), and learn the E4:32 Initiative (Ephesians 4:32).
Remember to "Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ Jesus forgave you. (Ephesians 4:31-32)

ONE ANOTHER: Honor One Another (Pt 6)
Sunday Oct 21, 2018
Sunday Oct 21, 2018
The Corinthians were very conceited and envious of One Another, tearing down one another in an endeavor to lift themselves up. Paul teaches us a better way, pointing out that each of us has an individual gift, specific to ourself, that was intentionally given (from God) through His Spirit, to be used for His (God's) glory. Instead of tearing One-Another apart, we can and should lift One-Another up, thereby glorifying God
Readings: 1 Corinthians 12:12-26, Romans 12:10

ONE ANOTHER: Bear With One Another (Pt 3)
Sunday Sep 30, 2018
Sunday Sep 30, 2018
Continuing in the series on how Christians should treat one another, Paul commands us to bear with one another. We do this by putting off our old worldly self (making no provisions for the flesh) and 'putting on the Lord Jesus Christ'. The analogy of two wardrobes is used, the old one which is filled with wrath, anger, malice, slander, obscene talk and lying must be rid of as we clothe ourselves with the new one which is compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, forgiveness and love.
Read: Colossians 3:8-14 and Romans 13:14
