MARCHING ON: Nehemiah - God Shaped Dreams (pt 4)

If you could snap your fingers and get your dream, what would it be? A repaired relationship, overcoming an unGodly habit, a change in your behavior?  Pastor Jon shares Biblical principles from Nehemiah 3 on how God Shaped Dreams can become a reality (bringing about real positive change).  This requires:

• A group of unified people.  Who is next to you?  We all need support or a mentor to encourage us.
• Courage of faithful leaders. Good leaders!
• A burst of dedicated labor.  Pick up that first stone!  Act on it! Start the work!

MARCHING ON: Nehemiah - The Nehemiah Ride (pt 3)

After receiving a 'Nehemiah Call' and acknowledging a 'Defining Moment' we begin the 'Nehemiah Ride' by taking seven steps as did Nehemiah:

1. Visualize the dream (try to see the end result)
2. Note the possibilities
3. Sharpen the solution
4. Count the cost (what resources are needed to make it happen?)
5. Recruit a squad
6. Claim the territory (for God)
7. Start the project  (sometimes we need to simply get moving!)

Our projects come in all shapes and sizes, it may be in repairing a relationship, a new step of faith in serving God, ending an addiction, a change in lifestyle, etc.

MARCHING ON: Nehemiah - Defining Moments (pt 2)

When Divine Opportunity knocks, God is calling you to do something that your fear does not want you to do.  Some time (4 months?) has passed since Nehemiah felt a calling by God to help his people by rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem. (see 3-3-19 Marching On-The Nehemiah Call (Part 1)). During this time, Nehemiah's heart was being convicted (what needed to be done), a decision was made, a vision of what the end result would consist of was materializing, he was developing a plan and God was preparing him (as His servant).  This is how God prepares His leaders for defining moments.  This is a pattern we can follow as a follower Almighty God.

MARCHING ON: Nehemiah - The Nehemiah Call (pt 1)

What do you do when faced with problems, challenges or trials?  Are you tempted to quit?  God may be asking you to persevere.  He tells us in James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.  Nehemiah was in such a position.  The remnant of Jews in Jerusalem were broken and hurting.  Nehemiah had a righteous dissatisfaction of their plight.  This was not the fault of Nehemiah, but as a leader, he was prepared to take ownership of it and do something about it.  By following Nehemiah's response we learn 7 Biblical ways to respond like God's leader: We need to arrive at a point of mourning, realizing the things need to change, then worship, putting our focus in the right place, then intercede, asking for God's help, then confess our shortcomings or failures, appeal to God's Word, the scriptures, then ask for His Divine assistance, and finally take responsibility or ownership of the problem and (whether or not it's your fault!). Remember, Persevere! Don't give up.  you'll come out much better for it.  Scripture reading: Nehemiah 1

VISION SUNDAY 2019

Today Pastor Chris talks on how the 33 Day Prayer Challenge affected the church.

The passages that we are in this morning is Psalms 40 and Luke 18.

We also got a sneak peak at the next sermon series which will be about "Perseverance." And a vision plan for the church for the next 5 years.

We will learn how these secrets will affect our relationship with Christ and others.

Paul gives us an excellent comparison of worldly goals vs knowing Jesus in the book of Philippians. He counts all his amazing resume as worthless compared to the priceless value of all we gain through life with Jesus.

HIS HOME: Fully Known (Pt 2)

Our heart is a home for  Christ (see the book 'Our Heart, Christ's Home). The first 'room' that we invite Jesus to 'over-haul' in our hearts is the study (our mind). This is the 'control room' of our lives where our thoughts originate. It is vital to realize that our thoughts: are known by God, lead to actions, can hurt ourself and others, will be confronted and can be deceptive. To clean up our 'study' (our thoughts) we must identify traps and triggers that get us into trouble and put into place 'preset alarms' to help us avoid failure.
