ONE ANOTHER: Honor One Another (Pt 6)
Sunday Oct 21, 2018
Sunday Oct 21, 2018
The Corinthians were very conceited and envious of One Another, tearing down one another in an endeavor to lift themselves up. Paul teaches us a better way, pointing out that each of us has an individual gift, specific to ourself, that was intentionally given (from God) through His Spirit, to be used for His (God's) glory. Instead of tearing One-Another apart, we can and should lift One-Another up, thereby glorifying God
Readings: 1 Corinthians 12:12-26, Romans 12:10

ONE ANOTHER: Bear With One Another (Pt 3)
Sunday Sep 30, 2018
Sunday Sep 30, 2018
Continuing in the series on how Christians should treat one another, Paul commands us to bear with one another. We do this by putting off our old worldly self (making no provisions for the flesh) and 'putting on the Lord Jesus Christ'. The analogy of two wardrobes is used, the old one which is filled with wrath, anger, malice, slander, obscene talk and lying must be rid of as we clothe ourselves with the new one which is compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, forgiveness and love.
Read: Colossians 3:8-14 and Romans 13:14

ONE ANOTHER | Love One Another (Pt 1)
Sunday Sep 16, 2018
Sunday Sep 16, 2018
Jesus gives us a New Commandment to 'Love One Another (John 13:34). Unlike the worlds definition of love, which is merely a feeling (noun), Jesus makes it an action (verb). We are commanded to love (not as the world loves)! We then get a definition of love...God is love (1 John 4:8) God further defines love as unconditional, is proof of our salvation, defined in Him, revealed in Jesus, divinely initiated and costly. As our commandment it becomes intentional and active. As our calling, it is evidence of who were are (God's children),perfected in us (testimony of God in us), and is the fruit of the Spirit. see 1 John 4:7-12

FIRE FLIES: Promise Factor (Pt 8)
Sunday Aug 19, 2018
Sunday Aug 19, 2018
The Promise Factor states that although we are prone to doubt God, His promises are guaranteed by Him and by Him alone. What He promises, He will do!
In Genesis 15:1-18 we read how Abrams faith wavered. Abram had been waiting a long time for a son, for a home and for a blessing and he was doubting God's promises. Although Abrams faith was weak, the Object of his faith (Almighty God) never wavered, never changed ...and the Lord credited it to him as righteousness. In Matthew 17:20, we learn of The Seed Principle. This shows us that it is not the size or intensity of our faith that is most important but the Object of our faith! Our faith may be small (like a mustard seed), but because the object of our faith is Almighty God, all things are possible! Romans 8:31-32 reinforces this by saying 'What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son (God's Oath or Promise for us) but gave him up for us all, how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?' When we see the cross, we see God's Oath or Promise of just how much He loves us.

FIRE FLIES: Squal Factor(Pt 7)
Sunday Aug 12, 2018
Sunday Aug 12, 2018
A common misconception in Christian Life is that, if we are living according to God's Word, there will be no storms in life. The truth is that all Christians will face storms as the disciples did (even though Jesus was in their boat) Read: Mark 4:35-41 Sometimes Jesus calms the storm in our life, but more often, Jesus calms us, helping us through the storm. Storms or challenges in life rock our faith which for some can lead to panic attacks. Whether we are experiencing a panic attack ourselves or are around someone who is going through an attack we can apply God's Word to the situation to bring calm to the storm.
Going to Proverbs 16:24, start with offering kind words to the person in the situation.
Whether you arte experiencing panic or are with someone in panic practice the 'Honeycomb Principle:
- Just do now. Matt 6:34 Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of it’s own.
- Trust in Him (not in me). John 14:1 Do not let your hearts be troubled.
- Trust in God, trust also in meI am not alone. Matt 28:20 And know that I am with you always; yes, to the end of time.
- Do this through Me 2 Cor 12:9 My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
- If the Lord wills. Matt 19:26 With man this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible.
- He beat this storm. John 16:33 I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
